The Biobank of the Sant Pau Biomedical Research Institute (IIB Sant Pau) is a Research Core Facility which manages human biological samples and associated data for research purposes, in compliance with legal requirements.
Biobank IIB Sant Pau was authorized by the Government of Catalonia’s Department of Health on May 2013, and it was subsequently inscribed in the National Biobank Registry reg. no. B.0000722).
Biobank IIB Sant Pau has a network structure, with 2 nodes: Institut de Recerca de l’Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau node (coordinator node) and Fundació Puigvert node.

Services

• Manage, process, store and supply human biological samples and associated data to research groups in accordance with legal regulations. The main collections are:

• Train in the legal regulations and ethical standards that govern the handling of human biological samples.
• Offer histopathology services (for samples from human and animal models):
Tissue processing.
Sectioning of paraffin blocks and OCT.
Automatic immune staining
Special staining techniques
Preparation of tissue arrays (TMA)
Digitization of histological preparations
Histological analysis and quantification
