IdISBa

Experimental Surgery Platform and IdISBa Stabulary

The IdISBa Experimental Surgery and Stabling Platform is an animal experimentation establishment authorized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Territory of the Autonomous Community of the Balearic Islands. The main services offered by the platform are: accommodation and care of experimental animals (rodents, rabbits and pigs), surgery service (conventional, laparoscopy and microsurgery) and Preclinical Imaging service (radiology, ultrasound, bioluminescence and fluorescence).

Services

  • Vilber Newton 7.0: Preclinical imaging of chemiluminescence and bioluminescence in in vivo and in vitro applications. Probes range from antibodies conjugated or linked to bacteria, to genetically introduced proteins or labeled polymers. With up to 5 mice being photographed simultaneously, explore a wide range of investigations, such as:

-Monitoring of tumors (Metastases) and infections.

-Monitoring cell migration.

-Monitoring of target molecules or nanoparticles.

-Visualization of vasculature and microcirculation.

  • Bruker SkyScan 1278CT MicroCT: A high-performance, self-contained, in vivo desktop micro-CT for scanning small laboratory animals (mice, rats, small rabbits up to 3 kg). Integrated physiological monitoring. Variable x-ray energy combined with a range of filters ensures optimal image quality for various research applications, including pulmonology, cardiology and body composition analysis.
  • ZEISS SteREO Discovery.V12 modular stereo microscope with 12x motorized zoom. Improves resolution and contrast in biology and quality control. Capture sharp images, rich in contrast and with excellent color fidelity.
    Motorized components for reliable results
Excellent depth perception even at high magnifications
Ergonomic operation with the SYCOP touch panel
Integrated into the SteREO modular microscope system
  • Training: Minimally Invasive Surgery Course in porcine model for residents. There are two Visera Elite laparoscopy towers (Olympus) and two LFT-S190 video laparoscopes (Olympus).
