FJD-Biobank

Fundación Jiménez Díaz-Biobank

The Biobank of the Jiménez Díaz Foundation (B-FJD) is a non-profit infrastructure of high strategic value, conceived as a decentralized transversal platform to support the IIS-FJD, with the capacity to collect samples, generate cellular and animal models and provision of services to the research groups of the Institute itself, the hospital and external users. Since its constitution in 2009, one of the main objectives of the B-FJD has been the integration of the biobank’s own activities into the activity of healthcare services, with all its members being staff with shared dedication to healthcare. This has made it possible for the Unit to currently have personnel hired by the IIS-FJD and the HUFJD involved in the collection, registration of biological samples and provision of services. The same occurs with the new satellite centers of the biobank, where the collection and processing of samples is assumed as part of the healthcare activity.
