The CIBERER Biobank participated in various workshops and online meetings to explain what biobanks are and how they operate, the ethical and confidentiality safeguards involved in the management of biological samples, how they contribute to scientific progress, and why patient participation is essential for promoting new lines of research and improving knowledge of rare diseases.
- February 27th: The CIBERER Biobank took part in the 10th AITER Conference with an elevator pitch, explaining what a rare disease biobank is and how it works, the ethical and confidentiality safeguards in place for the handling of biological samples, and how it contributes to scientific progress, held at the CIPF in Valencia; a video was recorded there for promotional purposes. - March 11th: CIBERER Biobank was taking part as a speaker at the “I Dissemination Conference on Biobanks in Rare Diseases”, organised by the Jiménez Díaz Foundation University Hospital.
- March 31th: Online seminar with the Valencian Association of Ataxias, to explain what a biobank of rare diseases is and how it works, the ethical and confidentiality guarantees in the handling of biological samples, and how they contribute to scientific advancement.
- April 8th: Online seminar with the Nicolaides-Baraitser Association to explain what the CIBERER Biobank is and how we are a platform supporting biomedical research in rare diseases.
- May 22th: The CIBERER Biobank participated in the I Xia-Gibbs Spain Conference as a speaker in Round Table 2: “Creation of a single patient registry and Xia-Gibbs Biobank”, INGEMM – La Paz University Hospital
- May 29th: The CIBERER Biobank and the IBSP-CV biobank were visited by students from the Higher Technician in Clinical and Biomedical Laboratory program at the Claudio Galeno – XTART Health Vocational Training Institute. This was an opportunity to introduce future professionals to the work of biobanks and their role in biomedical research.
- June 16th: The CIBERER Biobank participated in the CIBERER Patient Training Academy. This online seminar presented “Biobanks: key allies in rare disease research” [Video]
