I WORKSHOP OF THE PLATFORM ISCIII BIOBANKS AND BIOMODELS

1st Workshop of the Platform ISCIII Biobanks and Biomodels  will take place on October 27 and 28, 2022 in the city of Santander. Organized  by the Valdecilla Biobank (Marqués de Valdecilla Research Institute Foundation – IDIVAL) and the Platform ISCIII Biobanks and Biomodels (PISCIII_BB) under the coordination of Dr. Nuria Monserrat of the Institute of Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC). We have the support of the Government of Cantabria, the Santander City Council, the Department of Health of the Government of Cantabria, the University of Cantabria, and the Marqués de Valdecilla University Hospital, as well as patient associations.

The  P_ISCIII_BB is an initiative of  Instituto de Salud Carlos III (ISCIII) . From Coordination, the structure of the Platform has been organized into four scientific-technological HUBS, in order to provide scientific-technical services at the highest level in different fields, which include: Biobanks, Organoids, Animal models and 3D printing. In addition, the P_ISCIII_BB has recently become part of the European Biobank Infrastructure (BBMRI-ERIC) as an observer member, acting as a national node in BBMRI-ERIC, one of the most relevant research platforms in Europe.

The Valdecilla Biobank, as part of the IDIVAL Research Support Service Platforms, aims to promote research of excellence through the creation of collections of samples and associated data of high quality and scientific value, to be used in ethically and scientifically evaluated research projects, thus guaranteeing respect for the will of the donors and the confidentiality of their data.

The Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC) based in Barcelona, ​​is an interdisciplinary research center dedicated to research of excellence at the frontiers of engineering and life sciences. IBEC is one of the Spanish research centers of excellence awarded the ‘Severo Ochoa’ scholarship in 2015 and 2019, which recognizes excellence at the highest international level in research, training, human resources, dissemination and technology transfer.

Our Conference will have attendees from more than 50 research centers that are part of the 4 Hubs of the platform:

– BIOBANKS HUB

– 3D PRINTING HUB

– ORGANOID HUB

– ANIMAL MODELS HUB

The Workshop will be held at the Campus of Excellence of the University of Cantabria,  in the Assembly Hall of the Auditorium of the University of Cantabria, located at Calle Sevilla, 6, Santander, in the heart of Santander. The  Hall  has a capacity of 512 attendees, the Fray Antonio de Guevara Room, with a capacity of 80 attendees and the 400m2 Paraninfo Cloister, will be used for commercial exhibition, coffee breaks and meals.

About 200  attendees specialized in the field of biobanks and biomodels are expected to attend these I Workshop of the P_ISCIII_BB. We will have pioneering international speakers in the fields of biobanks and Biomodels as well as health professionals and members of other service platforms of the  Instituto de Salud Carlos III.
