PNBB Initiatives Highlighted in BBMRI-ERIC’s Multimedia Story for World Health Day 2026

For the World Health Day 2026, BBMRI-ERIC published a multimedia story highlighting projects of two biobanks from the ISCIII Platform for Biomodels and Biobanks and the BBMRI.es national node: World Health Day 2026.

The Cohorte Cantabria is a reference population-based cohort that integrates clinical, biological, and lifestyle data from a large population in Cantabria. This project is managed by the Valdecilla Research Institute (IDIVAL) and the Biobanco IDIVAL. It enables long-term follow-up of participants, facilitating the identification of risk factors and determinants of health. Its multidisciplinary approach and longitudinal design make it a key resource for the development of prevention strategies and personalized medicine, with significant impact on research at both national and international levels.

In addition, the Animal Model Sample Bank at the Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP) plays a crucial role in advancing biomedical research through the generation, preservation, and distribution of biological samples derived from animal models. This project provides high-quality resources that enable the study of diseases, the validation of hypotheses, and the development of new therapies, contributing significantly to the translation of preclinical findings into clinical practice.

Together, these initiatives highlight the importance of collaborative research infrastructures and access to high-quality biomedical resources, as well as the role of the ISCIII Platform for Biomodels and Biobanks and BBMRI.es in promoting innovative, translational, and patient-centered research.
